The Economy and Trade Department at the Danish Embassy assists Danish companies in their effort to export products and establish themselves on the South African market.
The Embassy’s Economy and Trade Department provides a wide range of services relating to commercial opportunities for Danish companies in South Africa. The Business Unit offer extensive knowledge and insight into the South African market in general, but also focuses on providing specific and up to date information on priority sectors for Danish companies. These sectors are described more elaborately under the section Sector Reports.
The Embassy's Economy and Trade Department offers trade and export related consultancy assistance with among other things market survey/analysis, partner/distributor search, import export regulations and facilitation of contact to governmental institutions. We sell a continuously updated list of subsidiaries of Danish companies in South Africa for DKK 300.
Furthermore, The department offers Danish companies access to the South African Market via structured programmes such as the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) which focuses on helping developing countries achieve sustainable development through supporting of projects that aim at decreasing the emission of greenhouse gases and also via the two Danida funded programmes, the Business to Business Programme and the Public Private Partnership Programmes.
The Economy and Trade Department seeks to derive synergies from the cross-disciplinary work within these areas to offer a broader and more extensive foundation of knowledge and understanding of the opportunities and challenges in the local market.
The Embassy in Pretoria is also accredited to Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Namibia, and Swaziland and the Department also covers these regional markets. South Africa is in many instances the port of entry to other markets in Southern Africa. Consequently, the Business Unit at the Embassy is a good starting point for Danish companies entering the region.
You can read more about the options to enter the Southern African market on the different pages of this section.
